Our Latest News - March

March Update

The beautiful white crocuses in the containers and barrier baskets finally decided to brave the cold and put on a good show. The daffodils too looked good, especially in the Peace garden, where some of our team added hanging baskets to enhance the display.

Funding for refurbishment of Patmos garden came through from the council and work began on the flower beds which had become very congested. We look forward to seeing this lovely space restored to former glories.

The ‘Clean for the Queen’ event was blessed with good weather and a lot of rubbish was collected leaving the town a bit tidier. There were fewer volunteers than we had hoped for but nevertheless it was a worthwhile project. We are thankful to all who helped and particularly to the manager of Lidl store who donated free rubber gloves.

The school garden club at Castle Hill primary has awoken from its winter slumbers. Pupils had two productive lunchtime sessions sowing seeds, weeding, and admiring the spring bulb display that they planted in the autumn.

We are looking forward to having a plant stall on the market April 30th, & an advisory visit from one of the Yorkshire in Bloom judges on April 18th.
