Our Latest News - January

January Update

An occasional fine day broke the gloom of this month, but continued wet and windy weather has given the planting in the containers and barrier baskets a bit of a survival challenge, particularly the violas and pansies. On the bright side, the bulbs are sprouting up, so hopefully we can look forward to their brightness in the spring.

Our AGM at the beginning of the month was very well attended; Jean Butterworth was unanimously re-elected as chairperson and all other roles were filled. The planned refurbishment of Patmos Gardens, a key project this year, was discussed; planning meetings with members of the council continue. Our partnership with Friends of Todmorden Station was also discussed, and this continues to strengthen. We are looking for ways of maximising inevitably reduced finances.

In addition to our monthly meetings, we have now established once a month outdoor work sessions on the second Sunday of each month. The first of these took place on January 10th. We focused on clearing sections of Fielden Wharf where mud and leaves had collected in abundance.
