Our Latest News - February

February Update

What a busy month, with several outdoor work sessions. The Peace Garden was tidied up, removing weeds and some debris from the Xmas tree; thinning the perennials will be a job for next month to make a bit more space for the WW1Centenary display due to go up in the summer. If the large planters on Fielden Wharf look a little empty at the moment, that’s because we have removed some of the invasive plants that had grown ‘too big for their boots’. Our thanks to Mick Collins (whose barge was moored at the wharf) for his cheerful help; it’s always nice to get help & encouragement. Some of us especially appreciated the loan of the steps to reach the bank at the back of the wharf where we re-positioned items taken from the large planters. These will be re-stocked in due course.

We hope local folks have been enjoying the barrier baskets, which have looked particularly pretty this month as the crocuses came into full bloom; a welcome sight on a grey February day. Keep your eye on the planters on County Bridge where daffodils will soon bring a splash of yellow.
