Our Latest News - December

December Update

Necessarily a quiet month in terms of outdoor activity. The planting in the barrier baskets and large planters is holding up well despite recurring bad weather. We look forward to the bulbs flowering in spring.

Our team spirit is good with healthy membership numbers; we marked the end of a productive year with a very enjoyable meal at the Hare & Hounds, attended by almost the whole team.

The devastating floods left many people in a sorry state, including friends and family of some team members. We realise that lives and homes are more important than gardens, but still we hope that supporters’ gardens have not been too badly affected and that nature will be kinder and help them regenerate. Sadly we heard from one of the entrants to our Open Gardens event, Boris, whose vegetable garden was destroyed in a landslip; we wish her all the best in restoring safety & productivity to her site. (This month’s photograph shows it as it was.) We are thankful that little serious damage has been done to the sites we help to maintain, though we shall need to do some cleaning up.

Planning for 2016 continues and we look forward to another year of doing our best to help Todmorden bloom again.
