August Update

The barrier baskets and large planters continued to bloom well, showing a lovely array of colours. The hardy perennials in the Peace Garden, along with the hanging baskets, also put on a good display. We hope passersby were cheered by the bright colours.

This was a busy gardening month again for the team, which met every Sunday morning. Efforts were focused on the ongoing improvements to Patmos Garden. Spaces were cleared ready for the rose planting in the area adjoining the Sensory Garden. The plan is to have red roses to complement the white ones in the Sensory area; this will symbolise the border of the two counties, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Behind the scenes, team members put in a lot of effort planning for the future, especially with regard to securing funds for improvements such as the repair of planters and new signage.
