September Update

The summer bedding certainly deserved its gold award! It continued to bloom profusely throughout the month; and thanks to regular Sunday gardening sessions, the public areas looked good too. Planning and purchasing for the autumn and winter displays is well under way and discussions are taking place about applying for grants to replace some of the older planters.

Two of our members attended the Yorkshire In Bloom presentation in York to receive Todmorden’s silver-gilt award, and the silver award for Todmorden Station.

The group had two very busy weekends this month; first was as part of the Todmorden Foodie Fortnight. Members had a stall on the Saturday giving out bunches of herbs, and also at Incredible Edible’s Harvest Festival on the ‘Green’ the following weekend. They were well attended and lots of herbs were given away.

We are pleased to say that the group has agreed to make a donation to sponsor Beth Wildman’s VSO work for the charity ‘Flower’. This is an organisation that supports women’s rights, health and education.
