May Update

Lots of extra work sessions this month, as plants and weeds grow at an alarming pace! Attention was given to public garden spaces such as Fielden Wharf, The Secret garden and in particular the area near Myrtle Street. The team has also been working on the planters at the railway station in preparation for some summer bedding plants to add a bit of colour.

The Castle Hill garden continues to thrive, with younger pupils rapidly learning new skills and becoming more involved as they see their seeds germinate and plants start growing. They were very excited by a visit from a hedgehog that temporarily took shelter in the greenhouse. Sadly he/she? didn’t decide to stay.

Our first report from the Yorkshire in Bloom judges was very encouraging, with many positive comments; we are working hard in preparation for their visit in July. Members of the team have also been busy planning for the Open Gardens Event, our annual local Garden Competition and the Todmorden Agricultural Show, so a busy month all round.
