March Update

Clement weather enabled the group to have regular Sunday morning work sessions in the Secret Garden, the Community Herb Garden, the Sensory Garden and the Peace Garden, where members added hanging baskets of spring flowering plants. It’s been a lovely display with crocuses followed by daffodils then hyacinths & tulips. Friends of Todmorden station have asked for support in maintaining their floral displays; we look forward to helping them in the future.

Detailed plans for the Open Gardens event are now in progress.

We welcomed new member Pat Jenkin to our group this month.

After a forced closure due to building works, the garden club at Castle Hill school has now re-started; some tidying up has been done and one gardening session with the children took place before the Easter school holidays. We’re all looking forward to planting seeds, and the new challenge of dealing with a shadier garden.

We now have dates for the spring judging from Yorkshire in Bloom: April 17th and are working hard to help the town make a good impression.
