Our Latest News - April

April Update

Sunny weather made the white hyacinths in the barrier baskets sparkle and reveal their delicious scent, a treat for passers-by. And in the secluded Secret garden, near the library, the fritillaries were a fragile delight.

It was a busy month for the team, with continuing Sunday morning work sessions, taking advantage of some fine dry weather. The Butterfly garden was given a good prune and tidy.

We had a useful mentoring visit from our Yorkshire in Bloom allocated judges, who spent a morning walking around the garden sites we are responsible for, giving advice and suggestions about how we can improve. They gave us helpful tips and showed a real interest in the town.

Improvements to Patmos garden continued, and there is promise of more funding to help with the restoration of the paths. Our plant stall on the market proved to be a real success! The team provided plenty of plants from their own gardens to sell, and as a result we raised over £200. We all enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to talk to the customers and have resolved to have another stall later in the summer.
