June Update

A busy month! Regular maintenance work continued on the town’s public gardens, including the Butterfly garden near the station. The hanging baskets were put in place and are already making a fine display. The theme this year is red, white and blue, to mark the centenary of the end of World War 1.

We had our second visits from the BBC, who filmed us working with the British Legion. It was a day of hard work for Darren Widdop and his team, moving the tree stumps into place in the corner of Patmos garden. These have been recycled from an area of the Memorial Garden in Centre Vale Park, which the British legion are redeveloping. The BBC also visited the pupils who maintain the vegetable plot at Castle Hill school. Of course, they were thrilled to be filmed!

We had a stall at the Agricultural Show at Cliviger, to promote the group and our annual Garden Competition.
